EnvironmentBeing a small country, with a dense population in a delta area, environment is of outmost importance to the Netherlands and so it plays a mayor role in Dutch politics and policy-making. As environmental problems are problems that do not stop at the borders and its solutions have to be sought in international agreements, environment is of interest as well for the Netherlands foreign policy. Therefore you van find in every Netherlands embassy an officer in charge for environment.
His task is:
To provide information on the Netherlands environment, water and nature policy;
To inform the netherlands government on the environmental issues of the country of posting;
To encourage international cooperation in the field of environment, water and nature.
There are several ministries dealing with environment.
The Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment;
The Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management (deals with the "wet" environment)
The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (deals with nature management)
The Ministry of Economic Affairs (deals with Energy Management)
